Most people don’t put a tremendous amount of thought into their choice of toothpaste. They just use the same brand year after year, either out of convenience or preference for the taste. For the most part, there isn’t much of a difference between the quality of most major toothpaste brands. However, a new startup company from Silicon Valley is trying to revolutionize the toothpaste industry by providing you with a product that is vastly superior to the alternatives currently on the market.
This new product from Livionex isn’t called toothpaste. Instead, they refer to it as dental gel. Livionex claims that their dental gel is more than twice as effective as traditional toothpaste.
Most traditional toothpastes utilize abrasives and detergents to remove plaque from your teeth. The Livionex dental gel breaks the molecular bond between the plaque and your teeth, making it harder for plaque to stick to your teeth. As a result, the plaque just falls right off your teeth.
A clinical trial conducted at the University of California Irvine found that subjects using the Livionex dental gel had 2.5 times less plaque than subjects using traditional toothpastes after only 3 weeks. In addition, the gum tissue of Livionex subjects was twice as healthy.
The American Dental Association (ADA) has released a statement calling the Livionex dental gel promising; however, they also acknowledge that research on this product is still in its early stages, and additional data is necessary to determine whether this product is truly more effective than regular toothpaste at fighting plaque and gum disease.
Dr. Frye are always researching new products and technologies that can help improve your oral health, and they will be following the studies of the Livionex dental gel closely. If they determine that this product can improve your overall oral hygiene, they’ll recommend it to patients as an effective alternative to traditional toothpaste.
